Luoghi, attività e idee per vivere la Valsesia.
In the valley of the tremendous

Within the Val Grande, Rassa, located at the center of Val Sorba, has a unique identity.
After the cluster of ancient houses in the hamlet of Quare, following the Sorba stream and immersing in a narrow yet lush natural environment, you reach the town center, one of the most typical and characteristic of the Valsesia.
Among these gorges, the 'Bare Wall' is famous, the scene of episodes in the life of Fra Dolcino, a character dear to the Valsesian memory.
It is no coincidence that the area of Rassa is proudly called "the valley of the tremendous," recalling this and other stories and legends that enliven the memory of the place.

Rassa is also bathed by the Gronda, which descends from the valley's namesake to merge north of the village in the Val Sorba, at a point where a 16th-century oratory dedicated to St. Anthony stands; many oratories and small votive chapels can be found in this area, all ancient and valuable as testimonies of art and faith.
A special mention should be made of the Parish Church of Santa Croce, dating back to the 1500s and affected by subsequent architectural interventions.
The ancient and charming hamlets of Ortigoso, Piana, Canton Fontana, Rassetta, and Mezzanaccio are to be explored on foot.
The confluence of the two rivers and the variety of the landscape make the area particularly suitable for trekking, allowing for the reach of open and panoramic locations of great beauty and hiking satisfaction.
