Rafting in this stretch is an adventure that engages participants in a fun and exciting experience. The route through the Gorges of the Sesia (also known as the Gorges of Dinelli) is a mix of rafting, canyoning, and river trekking, including optional jumps and slides along the way. The descent takes place in a truly unique environment, shaped by the outcrops of the Supervolcano of Valsesia. Here, the river has carved its way between large rocks, and the riverbed is so narrow that in some stretches the raft barely passes between the steep banks, which is why this stretch can usually only be navigated in late summer when the flow of the Sesia river is reduced.
The route begins near the beautiful Roman bridge that crosses the Sesia at Scopetta. From departure to arrival, the river flows away from the cart road, in a wild and unspoiled environment, which presents itself as a sort of natural playground.
It is a path of only 3 kilometers, which reveals itself to be particularly intense right from the start: the raft must seek its way with precise and quick maneuvers. The morphology of the river and the presence of two waterfalls that cannot be surpassed by raft create opportunities to work as a team and have fun, with jumps from the rocks, some swimming strokes and natural water slides.
After two exciting hours of rafting, the landscape opens up and the descent ends near Balmuccia, where a calmer stretch begins, suitable even for those who are experiencing it for the first time.
