The circular route touches some of the places of worship and interest in the town of Varallo: starting from the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, it climbs to the chapel of the Madonna del Cuore and then reaches the Sacro Monte. Continuing, it leads us to the viewpoint near the chapel of the Madonna del Cucco. Finally, we arrive at the summit of Monte Tre Croci, from which an unexpected panorama unfolds.
From the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, take the right alley that leads to the Madonna del Cuore and then to the Sacro Monte (612 m), passing through the woods.
After the guides' kiosk, take the right uphill mule track, then cross the road and continue keeping to the right on the path that leads to the chapel of Cucco.
You then climb again until you reach a fork, where you can choose to reach the summit of Monte Tre Croci (919 m) by following a direct and steeper path, or by turning left passing the viewpoint of Sasei and then continuing along the ridge to the right.
To complete the loop of the path, continue for a stretch to the north along the ridge and then turn left to meet the road near the Oratorio di Gerbidi. Turning right, you then reach the hamlet of Verzimo (743 m) where you meet the itinerary 617.
Just before the church, turn left and follow the path in the woods until you find the 617 path that leads to Le Folle (492 m). Finally, you pass by the ruins of the chapel of San Pantaleone and a keen eye can glimpse, on the opposite bank of the Mastallone, a Geosite of the Supervolcano of Sesia.
You then come out onto the Ponte del Buzzo and, turning left, you reconnect with the starting point.
