The route to Vallone del Cervo begins in the center of Cervatto (1002 m), easily recognized from the road thanks to its 19th-century castle. Following trail 501, you walk through the small hamlets of Cadvilli, Cadiano, and Giavina and descend towards the beautiful stone bridge over the Cervo stream.
The path climbs up to the hamlet of Oro Negro (1027 m), just opposite Cervatto, once a ski resort. Crossing meadows and pastures, you reach the Alpe and the Saddle of Camplasco (1369 m).
Turn right and follow the ridge, covered in broadleaf and conifer woods, reaching the charming Villa Danise, known as Villa Banfi, at 1606 m.
Continue along the crest through pastures and shrubs, following a series of left switchbacks that join trail 400 from Rossa. The grassy ridge then leads to the summit of Pizzo Tracciora (1917 m), offering views from the plains to the Monte Rosa peaks.
If you want to make the hike less demanding and simply enjoy a walk among conifer and broadleaf woods, you can stop at Villa Banfi (1606 m) and then take trail 503 descending to Giavina, thus completing a beautiful circular route.
