The ascent is very beautiful, panoramic, and never difficult. The route is never particularly exposed and is always passable with moderate technical difficulties that require excellent physical fitness and already having gained good experience in the use of crampons, harness, rope, and ice axe, but above all being accustomed to exposed situations. This ridge is a first adrenaline-filled approach, an experience suitable for those who have already approached ridges and want to take the second step. The name of the ridge is attributed to William Martin Conway, who visited it in 1884 accompanied by an Italian soldier, a border guard in the year of cholera.
The ascent to Punta Giordani starts from Alagna Valsesia (1,191 meters) by taking the lifts to Punta Indren (3,275 meters). From there, you continue east through boulder fields and the remnants of the Indren glacier until you reach the old cable car station at Punta Indren, which is located on the ridge marking the border between the Lys valley and Valsesia. With a long diagonal traverse, you cross the Bors glacier to the base of the Cresta del Soldato at the upper end of the first evident relief. Here begins the actual ridge, which over a development of about 350 meters takes you to the top of Punta Giordani (4,046 meters). The route takes approximately 4 hours and is recommended for those with previous climbing experience accompanied by a certified UIAGM guide.
