Luoghi, attività e idee per vivere la Valsesia.
Exquisite panoramas at only 1000 meters
Looking up from Fobello, the beautiful exposure of the overlooking Cervatto, the last village of the valley, on the mountainous left side of the Mastallone, attracts attention.
A superb position distinguishes this small cluster of mountain houses interspersed with elegant villas, among which stands out the Montaldo Castle, built on a panoramic hill in the late nineteenth century.
No other Valsesian village enjoys such a panorama: the basin of Fobello, the peaks of Baranca, many of the Fobello fractions scattered across the mountain ridges, the summits of Kaval, Tracciora, Punta Castello with their alpine pastures and the rugged ridges that separate this valley from the adjacent Rimella valley. A breathtaking panoramic view, possible only from high peaks and here instead enjoyable with a few turns.
In Cervatto, perhaps more than anywhere else, the relationship between man and environment of great value is palpable
From the small square, one can start the short route to visit the village, from the Montaldo Castle to the small church of San Giovanni Battista and the unmissable visit to the Via Crucis, as in Fobello scattered throughout the village, painted in its fourteen stations by the brothers Lorenzo and Giovan Battista Peracino and then restored by the Varallo painter Francesco Burlazzi.
The visit to the residential area of the village is worthwhile, nestled among beautiful houses and corners where small devotional chapels rise, as is certainly significant the tour through the fractions of Oro Negro, Cadvilli, Cadiano, Giavina, Campo Cervo, Orlino and Taponaccio.
In Cervatto, perhaps more than anywhere else, the relationship between man and environment of great value is palpable; an evidence that certainly has led over time to attention and choices for dimensions of balance and conservation, qualities that have made this village an elected place, among the most special in the Valsesian territory.
