Luoghi, attività e idee per vivere la Valsesia.
In the mid-mountain Valsesia, two villages with a rustic character
United in 2018, Cellio and Breia form a territorial reality immersed in greenery and with a peasant character.
In the center of a beautiful and suggestive valley that opens to the left of the territory of Borgosesia, Cellio stands out among the woods with its bell tower, the tallest in Valsesia, belonging to the Parish Church of San Lorenzo.
A position that is nothing short of magnificent for this important and monumental church, a point of reference for the numerous fractions distributed in the surrounding area of the village both on the valley side and on the hills that open to the southwest. The architect Pellegrino Tibaldi remodeled and enlarged it in the second half of the 1600s with a majestic scenic result; among the works of art preserved there stands a beautiful altarpiece by Tanzio da Varallo, several frescoes by Peracino, furnishings, carvings, relics, urns. Many points of interest and careful preservation.
In Cellio, in the Bosco locality, the Oratory of San Giacomo is also interesting, along ancient paths immersed in the woods.
Cellio and Breia form a territorial reality immersed in greenery and with a peasant character.
From Cellio, you can still reach Breia, a village of ancient origins, the highest of Lower Valsesia, by climbing for a bit.
The appearance of the small village reveals a rustic and industrious character, which is common in these mid-mountain areas, generally pleasant thanks to a harmony maintained with care towards the surrounding environment.
Here is the Parish Church of San Giovanni Battista, also frescoed by Peracino.
