The Regina Margherita hut is located on Punta Gnifetti at 4556 m of the Monte Rosa massif. Clearly visible even from the valley floor, it stands out to anyone looking towards the peaks. It is the highest refuge in Europe and hosts an important laboratory dedicated to scientific research, and is dedicated to Queen Margherita of Savoy who stayed there in 1893, the year of its inauguration. It has a capacity of 70 beds distributed in rooms with bunk beds and is equipped with a bar, restaurant, shared bathrooms, electric lighting, 220v power, wi-fi, library.
