Luoghi, attività e idee per vivere la Valsesia.
On the trails of Fra Dolcino

It is a large and beautiful town of the high Valsesia that stands out for its elegant housing profile, with prestigious residences and its own liveliness, on either side of the Sesia River, which obliges the houses to overlook the river, a particular aspect that gives it a poetic character.
In the middle of the town, the ancient bridge crosses the Sesia and connects the two banks in a single, populous and lively center that distinguishes Campertogno.
The imposing church, dedicated to San Giacomo, is designed by Bernardo Vittone and later modified by Juvarra. It has an incredible balcony that protrudes directly over the underlying road and a large facade that hints at the vastness of the interior, which houses works from good painting schools, now displayed in the adjacent small but precious Museum of Sacred Art, accessible through the church of the Confraternity of Santa Marta by Guarino Guarini, featuring a splendid altar rich in friezes and gilding.
Also noteworthy is the municipal theater.
Outside the center, another 10 small hamlets enrich the Tognigno territory: Quare, Villa, Piana, Pianella, Piana Ponte, Tetti, Piediriva, Carata, Otra, and Rusa.
It is impossible not to remember the figure of Fra Dolcino who, right near the hamlet of Quare, on the Bare Wall, took refuge with his followers.
Straddling Campertogno and the Valley of Rassa, the story of the heretic is fondly recalled by the local inhabitants.
